Annual Women’s Luncheon Is Coming Soon
"Open to all women in Yakima to connect and celebrate with each other." -30th Annual Women's Luncheon 2020
Being a human being is tough stuff, and setting aside the discussion of intersectionality for a moment, being a woman/womxn is 9000% tougher stuff.
I asked my 9-year-old daughter, Willow, how she would describe a woman.
"Willow!" I yelled into the expanse of my room. "Come here, I want to ask you a question."
Willow appeared in my doorway, clutching her cat, Fluffy.
"What is the purpose of a woman, Willow?" I asked.
She thought for a quick second before replying, "Good."
"No, the answer is not 'Good'! The answer is an explanation. Say, if I was an alien and I visited Earth from outer space and made you explain what everything is to me, what would you tell the alien about what it means to be a woman?"
"A woman..." Willow began, looking up to the ceiling, "...a woman is supposed to have a good life and get married and have kids and I don't know, I haven't lived my life yet!" Willow finished her statement and ran out of my room in a huff.
"THANK YOU!" I called out, loud enough for her to hear me behind her slammed the bedroom door.
Kids!
There is a women's luncheon coming soon. It is virtual. They want you to have your lunch and beverage of choice on hand and get ready for some camaraderie and celebration. If you self-identify as a woman, womxn, or non-binary, please consider attending, it is free to attend.
Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 12 p.m.
