Almond Growers Diversify and Dairy Methane Capture Improves

**As almond prices plunge, growers are focused on their bottom lines, looking for ways to diversify their crop portfolios to shore up narrowing profit margins.

Fresno County farmer Matt Efird, who grows almonds, pistachios, walnuts, peaches and feed crops, says diversification is the way to go because you can hopefully cover the lows with income from other crops.

The average almond price per pound has fallen from $2.45 in 2019 to $1.40 last year.

**Amp Americas, a leading dairy methane capture and renewable gas company, announced its projects have reduced more than two million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions since 2012.

That’s equal to the emissions of more than five natural gas-fired power plants in one year.

**Sales of four-wheel-drive tractors increased 4.8% in August compared to the same month last year.

New data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers says U.S. sales also increased 5.2% year-to-date.

Total ag tractor sales decreased 19.4%, while combine sales dipped 19.6%.

AEM Senior VP Curt Blades says while the increase in four-wheel-drive tractors is modest, it’s indicative of the industry’s resilience and the ongoing need for ag equipment.
