**Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue applauds the President’s signing of the CARES Act.

Perdue says the passage of the Coronavirus response legislation will provide much needed relief to Americans across this country, especially workers and small-business owners who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Perdue says President Trump has made the safety and security of the American people a top priority during this national emergency, and this bill will help make Americans more financially secure.

He adds USDA will deliver relief assistance to farmers and ranchers as quickly as possible.

**Spring represents a crucial season both for farmers and for home gardeners who grow produce, and a group representing plant nurseries and garden centers says that makes those businesses essential during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Plant California Alliance says nurseries and garden centers remain open to provide services to farmers, urban gardens and community-supported agriculture operations.

**American Farmland Trust, the organization behind the national movement No Farms No Food®, last week started taking applications for its Farmer Relief Fund with Farmland foods, giving $25,000 and individual donors another $35,000 within the first 48 hours.

The fund will award eligible farmers with cash grants of up to $1,000 each to help them weather the current market disruptions caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
