A consumer research firm has developed a new approach to help farmers better understand influential consumer groups and how they drive the market.

J.J. Jones, with the Center for Food Integrity says farmers can use the information to help make management decisions for their operations.

He tells Brownfield understanding what drives consumers is as important as their buying habits.

Jones says this year was the first year for this new research, and as more data is collected over the next several years, CFI will be able to better identify changing trends and attitudes in the food production industry.

The recent words of Donald Trump concerning the U.S.’s withdrawal from NAFTA prompted more than 130 food and agriculture industry organizations to send a letter to the President.

Members of the food and agriculture community wanted to highlight the importance of the trade agreement and to urge him to continue to build upon that success.
