After Weeks of Cheap Gas Prices On The Rise in Yakima

Time to fill the tank after a holiday week? Average gasoline prices in Yakima are up 1.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.95 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations in Yakima.

LOWER PRICES ACROSS THE BOARD

Prices in Yakima are 25.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 25.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 5.2 cents in the last week and stands at $4.23 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station is in Wapato priced at $3.43.
The average price in Washington state is $4.39 per gallon down from $4.41 per gallon last week.

EVEN THE PRICE ON THE NATIONAL SIDE IS DOWN THIS WEEK

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 5.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.21 per gallon today. The national average is down 26.0 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 30.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

WE CONTINUE TO ENJOY LOW GAS PRICES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says "with the national average price of gasoline declining for the 10th straight week, motorists are enjoying the longest downward trend at the pump since the summer of 2022. The timing couldn't be better as Americans head into the holidays, leaving them with more in their wallets at a time of year many start to spend on gifts for loved ones," Lower demand means prices are dropping. De Haan says however GasBuddy is monitoring "OPEC's delayed meeting, set to occur this week, for potential surprises that could eventually mean an end to lower gas prices should they make any surprise oil production cuts."

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices:
Tacoma- $4.20/g, down 2.3 cents per gallon from last week's $4.23 per gallon.
Seattle- $4.58/g, down 4.3 cents per gallon from last week's $4.62 per gallon.
Washington- $4.33/g, down 3.6 cents per gallon from last week's $4.36 per gallon.

WATCH YOUR SPEED AS PATROLS CONTINUE

The holiday season means special holiday patrols for the Yakima Police Department. Officials say Officers are participating in a county-wide speed and DUI emphasis patrol through today and then other special patrols will continue through the holidays.
Speed patrols continue in Yakima. Over the last week Officers made a total of 609 traffic stops and issued 346 citations. They investigated 38 collisions with 13 the result of drivers not stopping for a red light.
11 drivers were arrested for DUI.
