Expanding recreational access to the Ahtanum State Forest in Yakima County that's what's happening starting September 1 thanks to The Washington Department of Natural Resources , in cooperation with state Rep. Chris Corry of Yakima and multiple user groups. Natural Resources officials say on September 1 people will be able to access the forest at the South Fork Ahtanum gate as part of plan Corry and user groups worked with DNR to create.

A news release says "DNR has hired an Education and Enforcement Warden to patrol the Ahtanum State Forest. The new DNR employee will promote safety for the community, volunteers and DNR staff while supporting local users to provide recreation opportunities."
