The White Pass Ski area is welcoming families to the 27th annual Winter Carnival this Saturday and Sunday. The Winter Carnival is a big fundraiser for Yakima's Childrens Village. The ski area's spokesperson, Kathleen Goyette, says visitors do not have to ski or snowboard to enjoy the weekend. Those who do ski and have kids will want to get them involved in the Ski for Kids event. The event lasts two days and all the proceeds benefit Yakima's Childrens' Village. The event starts Saturday morning. Two major highlights include a large snow castle in front of the main lodge for kids to climb on and slide down and the fireworks show at 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
