2 Best Neighborhoods in Yakima to Go Trick or Treating

Not long ago, Yakima was voted as one of the top 25 places in the country to go trick or treating. Then the COVID pandemic hit and things got all lopsided and in disarray! During the first year of the pandemic in 2020, the best Yakima neighborhoods to go trick or treating that were once flooded with thousands of kids, parents, and cars became almost ghost towns during Halloween. Last year in 2021, we saw a resurgence of trick or treaters but not nearly as many as in years past.

This year, we expect the return of thousands of people excited to go trick or treating en masse in Yakima neighborhoods. There are several trunk or treat events planned (get a sample of them here and here) but for those of us who enjoy knocking on house to house with our young kids, we wonder where are the best neighborhoods to go.

We asked some of our listeners for the best neighborhoods and they told us where they plan to go trick or treating this year in Yakima. Over and over, we heard from our listeners that these two neighborhoods in particular are the places to be this Halloween!

You can find Halloween house parties happening amidst the throngs of kids going trick or treating in this neck of the Yakima woods tucked right off Summitview Ave. You can start off with houses at the corner of South 16th Avenue. For safety, we recommend you park at the Central Lutheran Church parking lot (1604 W Yakima Ave) or at the Ohana Mammography Center (1515 W Yakima Ave). Then you can use the crosswalk at S 16th Ave and head across the street to Yakima Ave and begin trick or treating from there.

2 . Apple Tree Golf Course Subdivision
