The Martin Luther King Holiday is Monday.  Race and diversity are a subject in the national political conversation.  So where are we on race and racism in Central Washington?

On Thursday, January 16, Yakima Valley Libraries will host a discussion about race and racism as part of Y/Our Story, the library’s current events and community conversation series.

A news release indicates “Let’s Talk About Race,” is designed to be an honest and enlightening community conversation about race and racism, with discussion led by author, former professor, and Humanities Washington speaker, Clyde Ford."

The presentation and conversation is meant for people of all races, with a heavy emphasis on audience participation, The goal is to provide participants with the tools for engaging in conversations about race in an honest, transparent and meaningful way to ultimately make a difference in bridging and healing the racial divide.

Discussion begins at 6:00pm at the Yakima Central Library.
