Yakima Police say a 21-year-old man was shot as he and another suspect tried to burglarize a home in the 1600 block of South 12th Avenue early Friday morning. Officials say a resident at the home grabbed a gun when he heard the suspects trying to break into the home at about 5:30 a.m. The resident chased one suspect into the neighborhood where the two exchanged gunfire and the 21-year-old suspect was shot. He was arrested and taken to a Yakima hospital for treatment for a non life threatening wound before he's booked into the Yakima County jail for attempted burglary and other charges. The other suspect fled on foot.
