South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy is coming to Yakima next year as the keynote speaker for the May 2, 2020 Lincoln Day Dinner at the Yakima Convention Center. Officials with the Yakima County Republican Party made the announcement on Friday saying they're excited about the former prosecutor, lawmaker and best-selling author attending the Yakima event.

Gowdy was a federal and state prosecutor for 16 years, and in 2011 he left the courtroom for congress where he served for 8 years  In 2018 he co-authored a book titled "Unified" with his best friend in all of politics, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. Their book was a New York Times bestseller.
Also, in 2018 he announced he would not seek re-election to congress. He'll be in Yakima on May 2 of 2020.
