Yakima Police Trying To Stop Gang Violence
Yakima Police are investigating a series of shootings that have left several people with gunshot wounds over the last two weeks. Capt. Jay Seely says rival gang members are clashing and it's been violent. The latest clash happened Sunday night at the intersection of East Chestnut and Union Street. Seely says shots were fired between the vehicles and they fled out of the area. A short time later officers found a vehicle crash at the intersection of 9th Street and Yakima Avenue. One of the vehicles fled the area. Officers found the other vehicle abandoned about a block away from the crash. Inside that vehicle officers found a gun holster and are now searching the vehicle for other clues and information. No injuries or arrests were reported.
Seely says police are determined to stop the gang shootings before others are injured or killed. The investigation continues Today.
