If you attempted to travel down Summitview Avenue between 24th and 16th Avenues anytime Thursday afternoon and early evening, you no-doubt encountered the need to divert your route.

Yakima Police had that stretch of the popular east-west street cordoned off for several hours.

Barricaded Suspect Holed-Up in Yakima Home on Thursday Afternoon

Persons on the scene Thursday afternoon told us that someone had barricaded themselves in a home at or near the 23rd block on Summitview Avenue which caused a major response from local law enforcement.

By early evening, only one police car remained, and thru traffic was once again cruising through the area.
