A 17-year-old Yakima boy was treated for a gunshot wound after being injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon. The shooting happened at about 4:20 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Yakima Avenue. When officers arrived they found the boy who told them he was walking with another person in the area when someone in a silver vehicle fired shots and sped away. Another person apparently stopped to help the boy and contact authorities.

He was taken to a Yakima hospital. No arrests have been made.

Police aren't saying if the shooting is connected to the fatal gang related shooting of a 20-year-old man from Toppenish last Monday in Yakima.
