Yakima Police Hoping For Help In Latest Homicide

Yakima Police are hoping to find a video or pictures of a suspect vehicle involved in Friday's fatal shooting of 33-year-old Emilio Phelan near the intersection of West Peach Street and Cornell Avenue. Yakima Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says "the people that live in the area if they have a security system, video that could help us identify the suspect vehicle we ask they contact the Yakima Police Department Detective division at 575-6212. Bastinelli says Phelan was on a bicycle when he exchanged words with others in a car and shots were fired from the vehicle. Phelan died at a Yakima hospital. He says Phelan wasn't a known gang member but they don't know about the suspects in the vehicle.
Friday's homicide was the 9th murder reported in the city of Yakima so far this year. Eight of the homicides remain unsolved as police continue to investigate.
