Yakima Hosts Free Community Cleanup This Saturday!
It's time for spring cleaning and residents in a Yakima neighborhood will have the chance to do some spring cleaning on Saturday, May 3rd, during a free Community Cleanup event.
WHERE YOU LIVE DETERMINES IF YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
A press release from the city says residents from Nob Hill Boulevard to Tieton Drive between 16th Avenue and Landon Avenue can participate in a free cleanup from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on May 3rd. If you live in that area you can bring your items to a temporary collection site on Arlington Avenue just north of Yakima Valley College where large dumpsters will be located.
CAN'T LIFT THAT BIG STUFF?
Volunteers will also drive trucks through the neighborhood from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm to help with trash, brush and other bulky items.
There are rules. You can't throw away commercial waste, construction or demolition debris, concrete, or hazardous waste. City officials say no loads will be accepted after 12:00 pm Saturday.
THERE ARE SOME OTHER RULES
Each household will be limited to no more than two tires (passenger car and small truck tires only).
No household hazardous waste will be accepted during the cleanup event.
Friday evening or early Saturday morning before 7:00 am, gather the items you want to dispose of and stack them in separate piles next to the curb adjacent to your home.
Items not at the curb by 8:00 am Saturday, May 3rd or blocked will not be picked up.
If you do not live in the area referenced above, please do not set items out.
Metals (i.e. washers, dryers, stoves, hot water tanks) must be kept separate for recycling by Poor Boys Auto Wrecking.
Yard waste clippings and trimmings will be accepted. No sod or stumps. Brush and branches should be cut into 4-inch lengths and bundled.
