Yakima Fire PIO Eliminated In City Budget

The Yakima City Council Tuesday eliminated a position in the Yakima Fire Department that was pulled off the budget cut list last week. The council Tuesday voted 5-2 to eliminate the position of Yakima Fire Department public information Captain position and put the $160,000 saved into the city reserve. The vote happened after the council voted December 4 to keep the position. After eliminating the fire department public information officer the council voted in favor of the $250 million city budget for 2019.
