Yakima may grow the hops but that doesn't mean we serve the most beer per capita. The site ApartmentGuide recently released a report of "The 10 Best Cities for Beer Lovers in the U.S." and while our Fresh Ale Hop Fest is a top Ten festival, we don't make this list.

ApartmentGuide looked at cities with at least 50,000 residents, and used data on bars from the Brewers Association where they discovered Asheville, North Carolina on top with 28 breweries per 100,000 people, followed by Portland, Maine (26 per 100,000 people), Bend, Oregon (25 per 100,000 people), Kalamazoo, Michigan (21 per 100,000 people), and Boulder, Colorado (20 per 100,000 people.)
Yahoo News reports the study echos findings from a similar report produced in June by C+R Research.
