Man From Zillah Killed, Authorities Search For a Suspect
A shooting reported Sunday north of Toppenish resulted in the death of a 32-year-old man from Zillah. Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of shots fired on Sunday. Authorities found a driver dead behind the wheel of the vehicle that had crashed into a wall in the 100 block of North K Street in Toppenish. The driver died at a Yakima hospital. He's been identified as 32-year-old Eric Paredes of Zillah. Deputies are searching for any information that could help lead to an arrest.
Another fatal was reported on May 12 in the lower Yakima Valley
Deputies are also searching for two suspects after a stabbing in Wapato May 12. Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 200 block of West C Street on May 12. When they arrived they found 51-year-old Daniel Torres-Nateras dead from stab wounds. Authorities say he was stabbed during a fight at a home in the area. The two suspects fled the area. Yakima Police Detectives are still investigating a drive-by shooting
Earlier this month Yakima Police investigated the cities latest fatal drive-by shooting. The victim in the May 15 shooting has been identified as 43-year-old Randy Scholl who police say was not a member of a local gang. Scholl died at a home in the 900 block of La Salle Street after being shot in the chest.
After a chase and crash of the suspect vehicle two suspects were arrested, 16-year-old Abraham Garcia and 18-year-old David Cordero. Both face charges of first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, first-degree assault and eluding police. The 18-year-old suspect made an appearance in Yakima County Superior Court last week where bail was set at $1 million. The 16-year-old suspect was transferred to adult court and was charged with murder last week. Both are being held in the Yakima County Jail.
