When the Yakima city council meets on Tuesday night at city hall council members will talk about a proposal to expand the downtown Yakima Business Improvement  District, the vehicle that funds the work that maintains the downtown area. But what could garner more attention is a discussion by council member Bill Lover to close a city parking lot for up to a week to see the impact it will have on downtown parking. Lover, an opponent of the proposed plaza downtown wants to see the lot closed to see how people would react if the lot was closed for a plaza.
The council will also talking about other issues on the agenda. The council will review a letter to be sent to Congress in support of the DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The council meets at 6:00 p.m. at Yakima city hall on Tuesday.
