Yakima City Council member Maureen Adkison says she was acting for the good of the city when she made a motion at the Yakima City Council meeting Tuesday night to end a discussion about a  proposed inclusive public safety  ordinance. The council voted 4-2 to end the discussion and any future talk about the city being a welcoming or sanctuary city. "We've spent almost a month on this. We have so many other things that are important. Not that this isn't important but we have so many other things on our plate." Adkison says it's time to work on other city business. She says a policy putting into writing what police already practice wasn't needed. Adkison she voted against all the prior proposals and believes it's time to work on other projects and issues before the city council.
