Yakima Avenue Work Will Slow Commute Until Thursday
Yakima city crews are busy with end of summer work on city streets as the fall months are around the corner. A number of city projects are still underway including the work that’s been ongoing along North First Street, with the North First Street revitalization project. That work is expected to be finished in October resulting in a newly refurbished entrance to the city with a new street, lighting and landscaping.
WORK IS HAPPENING ON YAKIMA AVENUE UNTIL THURSDAY
If you drive in the downtown area work is ongoing until Thursday on Yakima Avenue.
A city news release says as a result of the work, Yakima Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 7th Avenue to 8th Street during scheduled project work hours of 6:00AM to 11:00AM for the next two mornings. You may want to avoid the area until Thursday afternoon.
Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
EXPECT DELAYS ALONG YAKIMA AVENUE
The city news releases says;
"During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.
Access to businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.
As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
For additional information about this project, contact City of Yakima Traffic Supervisor Dan Nickoloff at 576-6746."
