Are you a local artist? If so the Yakima Arts Commission is hoping you'll get involved in the Fall/Winter Downtown Yakima Windows Alive! project.

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 31

The project fills empty storefronts in downtown Yakima with local artwork. The commission is now taking applications with a deadline of 5:00PM, Tuesday, August 31. The goal by the commission is to have the show ready by mid-October. You can find information and the application at windowsalive.com.

IF YOUR ART IS CHOSEN YOU'LL MAKE $250.00.

For many years the local arts commission has had the job of bringing local art to the downtown area. In fact this is the 10th season of Windows Alive!
The arts commission looks over applications and chooses six projects that will be highlighted in empty storefronts downtown.  Individual artists or groups who are chosen to show their work in the windows will be paid a $250 stipend.

ALL KINDS OF ART IS WELCOME INCLUDING ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS

It doesn't matter what your art is made of because all types of art is welcome including paintings, drawings, fiber art, crafts, ceramics, photography, alternative materials and sculpture.
The Fall/Winter Windows Alive Project will be located on the north side of Yakima Avenue between Hotel Maison and 3rd Street.
A press release from the city says Windows Alive! was created by the Yakima Arts Commission, which serves as an advisory board to the Yakima City Council. The project is part of an ongoing effort to bring public art to downtown Yakima.
