• The wildfire season officially starts next week in Washington but it is already well underway in the Yakima Valley says Dave Leach Chief of the West Valley Fire Department.

Leach says 11 fire management teams from Washington and Oregon will hold their annual meeting to talk about this year's anticipated wildfire season Tuesday.

Leach and other fire officials anticipate a very busy wildfire season throughout the Northwest.

  • Drivers traveling on I-90 east of Snoqualmie Pass may soon experience some long delays.

The Washington state Department of Transportation is planning construction starting April 12.

Crews will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction along a four-mile stretch between milepost 56 and milepost 60. Crews will be preparing detours for the 2014 construction season and removing the 64-year-old snowshed near milepost 58.

The closure will run every day from April 12 at 10 p.m. until April 26 at 9 a.m.

WSDOT suggests drivers travel early or late, find alternate routes or postpone trips due to possible delays of up to two hours.
