Ever think about becoming the next Yakima County Coroner? The Yakima County Republican Central Committee is looking for qualified candidates to fill the Yakima County Coroner position which was vacated by the resignation of Jim Curtice.

THE LIST OF QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE LONG?

What kind of qualifications are needed to fill the position? Matt Brown, Chairman of the Yakima County Republican Party says you must be a registered voter. That's it. There are no required skills. However Brown says the party prefers experience in forensic science, medicine, criminal investigations, criminal justice and other "matters related to death and burials."

A MORE BUREAUCRATIC JOB

In Yakima County, like many other places in the United States the Coroner's job is more bureaucratic rather than medical. In Yakima County the Coroner doesn't perform autopsies but does make final decisions on the cause of death.
Brown says three people will be selected as the nominees during the Yakima County GOP Endorsement Convention at Coroner's nominations meeting set for Wednesday, May 14 at 6:00 pm. The meeting is being held at the Yakima Christian Center at 1422 South 10th Avenue in Yakima.
