Yakima County voters turned down a sales tax proposal but gave a thumbs up to funding for the Selah pool in Tuesdays primary election the sales tax proposal failed 53 to 47 percent , it would have would have funded security upgrades at the Yakima County jail. Now the money will come from an already depleted county road fund.

Voters in Selah overwhelmingly supported a measure to keep open the city pool. Nearly 80 percent supported the measure that will fund the pool through a property tax assessment of 8.5 percent per thousand dollars of property value. If that measure would have failed the pool would have closed in 2013. The election will be certified on August 21.
