The Yakima Union Gospel Mission is waiting on COVID-19 test results of people now living in the family shelter. Mission Director Mike Johnson says everyone is quarantined until test results are available at the end of the week. Johnson says a man in the family shelter recently tested positive for the virus after spending 8 days at the shelter with no symptoms. However the man worked at Washington Beef in Toppenish where other workers tested positive. The man was tested as well and the test was positive for COVID-19 So mission officials decided to test everyone in the family shelter. Until test results are available the family shelter at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission remains in lockdown.
Johnson is hoping he doesn't have a large outbreak happening at the Mission.
