SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane-area man will stand trial in May for allegedly shooting his in-laws and their son, then burning their bodies at their home in Colbert, Washington.

31-year-old Roy Murry faces aggravated murder and arson charges in the deaths of Lisa Canfield, her husband, Terry Canfield, and Lisa Canfield's son, John Constable.

The Spokesman-Review reports that Murry has also been charged with attempted murder for allegedly planning to kill his estranged wife.

A judge on Tuesday scheduled his trial for May 23. It is expected to last six weeks.

Court documents say Murry is an Iraq War veteran who came home with severe post-traumatic stress disorder. He was receiving a disability pension from the VA prior to his arrest. His lawyers say he cannot be linked to the evidence.
