Remember what mom said –“don’t skip breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day”. Now there’s another reason besides your mom’s admonition to not miss the morning meal.

New research says eating breakfast every day may help prevent strokes, especially the kind that cause brain hemorrhage. The study based in Japan followed more than 80-thousand men and women over a 15 year period, examining their breakfast-eating habits from zero times per week through every single day.

Over the course of the study, there were a total of 3,772 strokes, including 1,051 of the brain hemorrhage type.

WebMD.com says a major risk factor for cerebral hemorrhage is high blood pressure --especially an increase in blood pressure in the morning. The researchers say people in the study who ate breakfast every day were less likely to have high blood pressure compared with those who skipped the meal. Other studies have shown that brain hemorrhage strokes happen more frequently in the morning, and that blood pressure drops after eating breakfast.
