Growing cases of COVID-19 in Yakima County and health officials are concerned the number of cases could grow after recent Black Lives Matter protests in Yakima and Selah. COVID-19 numbers grew by 215 Monday as testing continues in the valley. The Yakima Health District Spokeswoman Lilian Bravo calls the county a hot spot in the state for COVID-19 and urged everyone to wear a mask to help slow the spread of the disease.
She says they'll know within the next two weeks if recent public gatherings lead to an increase in cases among those who were protesting. While health officials say there's a possibility we could see an increase there's also the possibility that may not happen.
