Mike Johnson has brought a lot changes to Yakima's Union Gospel Mission since first coming to town two and a half years ago to serve as Executive Director.  He's been aggressive in organizing his teams for outreach to Yakima's homeless population, the Mission clinic is the largest free clinic in the state and he's rejuvenated the mission's thrift business as a way to supply individuals and families who are moving out of the mission and back into society and to help cover the costs of Mission administration.

Johnson applauds his team of managers and organizers that have revitalized the UGM store on Lincoln and the original Lighthouse location downtown on Front Street.  But the newest adventure is Summit Thrift Store in the former Rite Aid location next to Safeway at 56th and Summitview Avenue.

Johnson says the most exciting thing about his time in Yakima has meeting and working with an amazing collective of incredible people....like the folks behind the new westside thrift shop.

Donations can be accepted at the store from 9 to 5 each day the the are targeting a May first opening.

Thrifting is a national trend right  now and when you shop the UGM stores in Yakima you'll find amazing good deals and you'll help Mike and the crew do the Lord's work in our community.
