Yakima County Commissioners officially rejected three proposals for a new East to West corridor from Yakima to Terrace Heights.  County engineers say environmental concerns were a big reason. The corridor project is exploring an alternative route to connect Yakima and Terrace Heights near the old mill site. The county spent more than $3 million to study it. Two other options will now be under consideration. Construction is projected to cost $100-million. The work could mean a new interchange for i-82 near the mill site.

Yakima county expects to have a final plan by mid-summer.
