AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a teenage boy disappeared while attempting to swim across the Green River near Auburn.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority says the boy's friends reported him missing around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

KOMO-TV reports the 17-year-old had crossed the river with friends and began to struggle on the way back.

King County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cindi West says his friends saw him float downstream and slip under the water.

Responders from multiple agencies were searching in the water Tuesday night. West said crews would resume the search in the water Wednesday morning and that others would continue to search the river banks.

No other details were immediately available.
