
Suspect Arrested for Second-Degree Murder After Skate Park Shooting
A shooting at a skate park on Monday took the life of a Yakima man. Yakima Police say it was a gang related shooting in which police say the victim was shot in front of his three children.
OFFICERS CALLED TO THE PARK AT ABOUT 7:20 MONDAY NIGHT
A press release from the Yakima Police Department says a 36-year-old man, identified as Raul Macias is dead after the shooting in the area of Chesterly Skate Park on 40th Avenue Monday night. According to Yakima Police, Officers were called to the park at about 7:20 pm after getting numerous 911 calls of shots fired in the area. They found a 36-year-old man who was the victim of a gunshot wound. The release says medics and Officers tried to save the man but he died at the scene of the shooting.
LOTS OF WITNESSES AT THE BUSY SKATE PARK MONDAY
Authorities say there were multiple witnesses in the park who identified the 22-year-old suspect in the shooting. Yakima Police were helped by Troopers from the Washington State Patrol and Deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office and were able to find and arrest the suspect near the park. The suspect was taken into custody without any problems. He was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder. Police say after the shooting he admitted he was the person who fired the fatal shot.

The press release says the investigation is being led by the Yakima Police Department Major Crimes Unit. Investigators believe this incident may have been gang motivated and are asking if anyone in the park was confronted by the suspect while in the park to contact YPD.
