A lot of cows in the Yakima Valley died in the big blizzard earlier this month, and now farmers are dealing with the loss. According to officials with Farm Service Agency, 1,800 dairy cows were lost, costing farmers nearly $4 million. And that doesn't include the lost milk production.
Agency officials say seven dairy farms have turned in notices of loss and more are expected in the near future.
Officials with the Washington Dairy Federation say 15 farms experienced losses in the Feb. 9 storm.
