The Yakima Salvation Army is looking for sponsors for what's called The Salvation Army Kids Shopping/Project 500. It's a program that helps needy families. Lt. Rebecca Helms says they work with area school counselors from 20 local schools to find needy students and then they match those students up with a sponsor from the community. It could be an individual, a company or anyone who's willing to help. each child is allowed to spend $75 to purchase clothes, shoes, hats and gloves at Walmart.

Helms says they're going shopping on Saturday December 14 and sponsors are welcome to attend. If you're interested in sponsoring a child contact Lt. Rebecka Helms at the Yakima Salvation Army at 823-1813.
