‘Second Saturday': New Fun Coming July 11 For Downtown Yakima
We are always in need of something fun to do in Yakima Valley. We have had some fun times this summer. Downtown Summer Nights has been amazing, especially the 'Van Eps' night with KATS-FM. Now 'Second Saturday' is in play. The Downtown Association is putting together 'Second Saturday' for all of us to have even more fun in Yakima Valley!'Second Saturday' is going down this Saturday (July 11)!
Here are the group's plans ...
This summer, the Downtown Association of Yakima would like to introduce a new series of events, Second Saturday.
Second Saturday will aim to engage downtown businesses to provide family friendly activities and specials. The first in this 6 month long program pilot is this coming Saturday, July 11th and will feature Cruise the Ave from 6 PM – 10 PM, buskers playing music around town from 3 PM – 6 PM, a family oriented yoga class at Yoga Collective at 4 PM, a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament and deck building starting at 12:30 PM at Ron’s Coin and Books on 3rd Street, and a food special at the Sport Center.
“First Friday has been successful at bringing folks to downtown businesses,” said Victor De Long, President of the DAY. “We wanted to do that same thing with Second Saturday, but with the emphasis on families.”
Future dates for this series include; August 8th, September 12th, October 10th, November 14th, and December 12th. The Yakima Makers Space, the YMCA, Vintage Me, the Pippins, and other area downtown businesses will be participating in some of the future event dates. We will be updating the website (www.downtownyakima.com) with a list of activities as they are confirmed.
DAY is a private, nonprofit organization committed to the preservation, development, marketing and promotion of Downtown Yakima through focused efforts to build and maintain public and private partnerships that will foster financial and creative investments in our future while embracing and celebrating our history.
