The Seahawks have announced their starting quarterback for their first 2012 pre season game.

After today's practice, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that Matt Flynn will get the start this Saturday night against the Tennessee Titans at Centurylink Field.

“Matt has done a fantastic job so far. He’s learned the system. He’s on it. He can make all the adjustments, all the calls. He sees the defense really well. I love that he’s moving well in the pocket. All of the things we’re asking him to do he’s fit that together so far. Now I need to see him in a situation where now he takes over and see what that looks like.”

Carroll is not naming Flynn the starter for the season, but for the preseason opener.

“This is how we had planned it all along,” Carroll said. “It’s turned out that it’s going to fit together and then we’ll see how we go at the end of the week.”

Seahawks coaches say that they have enough information on incumbent starter Tavaris Jackson, so Flynn will play the first half  Saturday night and rookie Russell Wilson will start the second half.

The pregame show broadcast starts at 5PM, with the kickoff at 7PM Saturday here on your Seahawks station AM 1280 and FM 99.3 Newstalk KIT.
