Say It Isn’t So Number One – Baldness & Coronavirus

Bald is beautiful baby!!  Said a bunch of guys who couldn't grow hair!  Wait, that's not really fair today.  Today, the bald look is a reasonable choice for millions of men. Think Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Common, Shaq,Howie Mandel. and may father-in-law Ken.

Some of those guy shave their heads and some are naturally bald.  OK, so what?

So those who are not bald by barber but are bald by genetics could have a higher risk of developing severe COVID-19 symptoms. Brown University conducted two studies, and concluded that a disproportionate number of bald men were taken to the hospital with the virus.

Of the 41 patients he examined in his first study, 71 percent of them had male pattern baldness, a higher percentage than the background rate for baldness in men of a similar age. Further research found that nearly 80 percent of male COVID-19 patients in Madrid, Spain, were bald.

Researchers believe  male hormones are the gateway for the virus to enter our cells.

Earlier stats showed men were more susceptible to Coronavirus than women and now it appears bald men are more susceptible than all other men. The UK Independent reports that the research suggests that men are more likely to die from COVID-19 than women.
