Did you know there was such a thing as the World Salsa Summit? As you would imagine, it is a competition that gives out prizes for the world's best salsa dancers. I could practice 24 hours a day for the next two whole years and I still wouldn't be able to compete with these dance pros, but it should would be something worth trying!

If you want the ultimate song I think you should do some salsa dancing to, look no further than the dame herself, Celia Cruz, with La Vida Es Una Carnaval.

Take a wild guess why salsa nightclub dancing in Yakima has been shut down over the past year? (Go ahead and take a guess; I'll wait.)

Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic is what closed down one of Yakima's hidden gems. I've been to the salsa dance lessons they have at The Seasons Performance Hall. It is a ton of fun, even if you aren't that great of a salsa dance pro. The Yakima Salsa Dance team gives free group lessons before every public party night.

Do you wish that we could begin dancing the night away again to the tune of spicy Salsa music, in a socially distanced, post-pandemic manner? Well, my friend, you dreams are about to start coming true.

I just found out that beginning June 25th, the Yakima Salsa Dance company will start up the show again!

Opening night will be on a Friday, hosted at The Seasons Performance Hall (101 N Naches Ave) from 9 p.m. to 1 o'clock in the morning. The big difference is that there will be NO DANCE LESSONS beforehand in June, probably because time is a-wasting and the die-hard salsa dancing community ain't got time for all the rest of us NEWBIES to learn how to dance! Good times!
