Yakima woke up to a white dusting of snow on Sunday. About a half inch fell late Saturday and into Sunday. An accumulation of up to 2 inches is expected. But after Sunday the weather forecast calls for partly sunny skies both Monday and Tuesday with clouds on Wednesday. The week is expected to end with rain showers. Mountain pass forecasts call for a mixture of clouds rain and snow this week but no snow accumulation.
Area neighborhood roads are slick but city streets are clear and wet in most areas. However temperatures are expected to be near 20 degrees overnight and into Monday morning so roads could be slick to start the week.
Yakima Police say several crashes were reported early Sunday morning but nothing serious. Police are just asking if you don't have to travel stay home.
Yakima's community Christmas tree which was blown over by heavy winds soon after its arrival last week is expected to be back in place at Millennium Plaza on Monday.
