Yakima City crews are working along a section of Summitview Avenue Wednesday through Friday of this week. Crews are crack sealing portions of the street.
As a result of the work drivers will see traffic restrictions on a section of Summitview between 56th Avenue and 66th Avenue from February 19th through February 21st.  Work on the project will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. A news release says flaggers will be on site to assist drivers in navigating the project area.

"Crack sealing is one of the most inexpensive forms of road maintenance and is an effective method of preventing water from penetrating the roadbed and causing further damage including, most notably, potholes.  Cracks caused by fatigue, changes in temperature, regular traffic use, etc. are first cleaned using pressurized air.  Cracks are then filled with an asphalt emulsion, thereby preserving not only the roadbed, but the pavement adjacent to the cracks.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour."
