Can’t Access Pornhub Anymore? If You Live in WA and Idaho, Here Is Why

A very popular adult content site is not available anymore for some residents living in Washington State and all of Idaho.

This news has some Washington state locals in a tailspin, no pun intended.

The entertainment site with mature content announced earlier this year that they would be blocking their content for users in certain states* because of new age identification laws. Idaho passed an age verification law that went into effect on July 1st of this year with bipartisan support.

This decision has had unintended affects for some residents living in Washington state.

Customers living in Washington who have an Idaho cell phone number or get an internet connection that pings with a cell service tower in Idaho have noticed they are now prohibited from access to the adult website.

WHY IS PORNHUB BLOCKING ACCESS IN CERTAIN STATES?

The owners of Pornhub are worried that new laws being enacted will force previous users to venture to other adult entertainment sites that do not have strict rules for uploading content like they do. Their rules include blocking any content featuring minors or depictions of intimate physical abuse.

They also say that while having age-verification laws are totally appropriate, states forcing their residents to scan their IDs, credit cards, and connect their social media accounts could lead to a downward slope of the United States government collecting IP addresses of every person looking at Pornhub content. The company feels, in other words, that this is an unconstitutional search.
