Dr. Lutz Harfst with Yakima's Animal Medical Service says there's still no evidence that he's seen or heard about COVID-19 transmission from pets to people or people to pets. There's been some talk about the concern but no evidence that's happening. But now the experts want to learn more after hearing a tiger in the Bronx Zoo in New York has tested positive for the virus.
Harfst and other veterinarians in the valley are taking precautions like other essential businesses by limiting customers and only performing needed procedures.
Harfst says so far he's seen no evidence to support a human to animal or animal to human transmission of the COVID-19.
