Monday Starts A Week Of More Snow In Yakima
An unofficial 12 to 15 inches of snow fell during the past weekend in Yakima forcing the city of Yakima to declare a state of emergency on Saturday. The state of emergency ended Sunday morning as the valley saw some sun breaks just before another series of storms that will bring snow to Yakima all week. The National Weather Service winter weather advisory is in effect until 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Another 8 to 10 inches of snow is in the forecast Today and into Tuesday night.
Saturday's storm that slammed the northwest shut down businesses and city governments throughout the Northwest including here in Yakima. However many businesses did stay open including grocery stores and restaurants.
The Washington State Patrol closed I-82 between Yakima and Ellensburg because of the storm.
Yakima city crews were out with plows late Friday and into Saturday and Sunday. With more snow in the forecast this week city and county officials are asking drivers to slow down and be careful as the work week begins.
