More than 50 volunteers helped the Yakima Union Gospel Mission give away 600 turkeys during a holiday food box distribution Tuesday. Families that registered for a food box were able to pick up the box which included a turkey with all the traditional side dishes and a pumpkin pie. The distribution was held at Yakima's Stone Church which partnered with the mission for the holiday meal. Because of COVID-19 restrictions on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day the mission will serve a meal to residents in mission programs and a box dinner at 2:00 p.m. for those who live in the adult shelter. The mission must close the dining area this year but so they'll be serving in the day room area. The mission still needs help with the purchase of food for meals. You can donate at yugm.org.
