A 31-year-old man accused of shooting two men at his home in Wapato last Thursday will not be charged with a crime according to the Yakima County Prosecutors Office. Prosecutor Joe Brusic says the homeowner, 31-year-old Jesse Villa shot the two men as they were assaulting his wife.
The shooting was reported at 2:50 a.m. last Thursday in the 700 block of West Seventh Street in Wapato. Brusic says when Villa arrived home he found three men at the home that refused to leave. Villa then grabbed a gun and found two of the men assaulting his wife. Villa shot both men.
The man who died has been identified as 27-year-old Tadd Blodgett. The other 21-year-old man who hasn't been identified was wounded.
In a news release Brusic writes;
"After a full and fair consideration of all the facts and evidence known as of today, it is my belief that the State of Washington would not be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the absence of self-defense and./or defense of others undertaken by Jesse Villa. The use of force is lawful"
