A 33-year-old man who prosecutors say fatally stabbed his mother and sister-in-law at a Brownstown home April 9 was charged Wednesday with 2 counts of aggravated first-degree murder. Edward Robinson is being held in the Yakima County jail. His bail has been set at $1 million.
Authorities say Robinson was in an argument with the women before he used a folding knife to fatally stab the two ladies. They've been identified as his 50-year-old mother, Maria Martinez and his 23-year-old sister-in-law, Shante Barney. Both women died at the scene of the crime at a home in the 11000 block of Branch Road.
Prosecutor Joe Brusic, according to court papers has indicated he will not seek the death penalty in the case.
