A 23-year-old man from Union Gap is facing charges after being arrested for assaulting an 80-year-old woman on Sunday. Yakima Police say Chandler Ford was arrested on charges of  attempted 2nd degree murder, 2nd degree assault, and 1st degree burglary. Authorities say early Sunday morning Ford forced his way into a home in the 900 block of South 53rd Avenue and then cut the neck of 80-year-old resident Barbara Borgen. Borgen was rushed to a Yakima hospital where she remains in good condition.
Her neighbors called 911.
When police arrived Ford struggled with officers and at one point cut an officer in the face with a razor. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
An investigation continues Today.
