It's almost back to school time. But a majority of students in the valley are starting the year online this week. Remote learning starts on Wednesday, August 26 for students in the Yakima,  Selah, West Valley, Toppenish, East Valley and Grandview school districts. Other districts are also using remote learning including colleges in the valley.  Like other districts the Yakima School District has a four-stage reopening plan and will use remote learning for the first 18 weeks.
All district officials say they'll work closely with health officials to determine when to move from remote to classroom learning.
Many private schools in the valley are returning to classrooms with COVID-19 restrictions in place including the requirement to wear a mask.
One of the first private schools to open will be Yakima's Riverside Christian School welcoming kids back to the classroom on Wednesday, August 26.
